Freud argued that a child can grow into a fully independent person with the absolute belief of their mother. However, she was eventually persuaded when Ramanujan explained that it was the will of God. She emphasized to her son the importance of maintaining his religious beliefs and principles while in England, and Ramanujan followed her advice, drawing much inspiration from his faith. His decision to go to England marked a turning point in his mathematical career, enabling him to make significant strides and eventually be recognized as one of history’s greatest mathematicians.
